Out in Chicago

Hey girls! So I've realized that getting ready by myself and going out without you girls is definitely different. But one thing is the same-- clothes are still everywhere on the floor, shoes are scattered, bathroom is a mess and dishes are in the sink. Sound familiar? But, you'll be happy to know that I clean/organize right away because I don't have to leave until 10:30/11, Chicago people party late and until the sun comes up! And downside -- I can't just wear fun sandals or flats anymore, I have to wear heels/wedges and dress up. Maybe I'll get used to it someday. We've hit up a few clubs that are just fun for dancing so if you girls come visit, I will definitely take you :) Through Sarah and Amanda I've met some new people. I randomly  met a guy out that lives in my building...I'm thinking that could be fun for drinking a few beers on the rooftop so I hope to see him around.

I had orientation last week which got me really excited for classes to start this week. And believe it or not I'm starting to master the train/bus system --it's the easier/cheapest form of transportation and can take you basically anywhere in about 15 mins. I'm all set up on the phones through All City to start making some money again and I have an interview next with a hospitality firm for an unpaid internship...could be very exciting!

That's my life in a nutshell right now. The apartment is really coming together so I promise I'll post pics soon.

Miss you girls!

Woot

Whew!  This past month has been such a whirlwind- finishing up 3 part-time jobs, packing up an apartment, visiting friends & family, and getting used to a brand new town and teaching job.  So far, I really like my new apartment.  It took a few days to get things organized, but I've made some progress.  At least, I'm unpacked enough to bake banana muffins.  Yum!
I am loving my new school- I've got a beautiful brand new music room and lots of space to make music!  This past week, I've been designing bulletin boards, coloring, copying, and hanging up decorations.  The staff is SO awesome, and I've got a great mentor who is always willing to answer my questions.
Last weekend, I went to explore St. Paul.  Checked out the farmers market, a new coffee shop, and the Minnesota State Capitol.  And while I still think Madison's market/Capitol area is the best around, St. Paul was okay too ;)
Hope the other members of Skinny Truck Party are well and enjoying the last bits of summer.  Miss you both!

Study, Study, Study!

Hey Everyone! So I surived my first week of classes.....There's a lot of info and I'm already a little overwhelmed, but I can do it! Had to share my sweet study spot pic with you all :) Megan and I decided to take full advantage of the bracelets for the resort that her parents left for her....the place is so big that there are a lot of little restaurants and pools that are 'closed' and right near the ocean so they make perfect study spots! We scored this table for our Saturday study session. It was inccredibly hot...Officially 95 degrees, but felt more like 105....However, how often can you say you studied in your bikini less than 100 feet from the ocean?

I also ran into an old friend on the beach gazing out into the ocean.... :) Ok, I may have brought him with and purposely set him there....but still, makes for a fun picture! Though I think he may have 'suited up' in the wrong suit for the occasion...lol. Hope you're both doing well and I'm looking forward to hearing about all of your adventures!!

Empty Apartment

So, Friday is the official move out day! My dad and Cal are coming after work to help me move out. Katie and I are trying to do a little bit of packing and cleaning each day. But really, the apartment isn't that empty yet. Everything is off the walls but now it's on the floor. It's hard to think that we are leaving, but it's exciting at the same time! I've made my Madison to-do list of everything that I want to do before I leave. Some includes: running Picnic Point, the Arb and the Haunted House run. Eating New Orleans Takeout, pizza at Pizza Brutta and a doughnut from Greenbush Bakery. Can you believe after 6 years of living in Madison that I've never eaten there? And of course, chill at the terrace with everyone! Time to start packing again...good thing I have the day off!

First Day of Class

Hey friends :) I've been in Freeport for a week now, though it feels like much longer. I already miss Wisconsin weather...It has been really hot here and hurricane season is set to start full force anytime now. Not really looking forward to all of the rain.....though at least it will cool things down a bit.

I had my first day of class today! Classes were okay....there was a lot of information and I will be studying all of the time, but nothing I can't handle.

So far I've found that I got really lucky with my random roommate decision. My roommate, Megan, is super cool and has similar studying, working out, and eating habits which should make these next 16 months A LOT easier. Her parents came down with her and are staying at the 'touristy' part of the island until wednesday. This has been awesome because it gave us access to pools, beaches, and even a nice starbucks to study in :) We're going to keep the bracelets that guests are required to wear and use it as our own secret study spot.

I'm off to start my studying for the night, hope you are all doing well and I will check back in soon!!
